Advantages of knits in textiles

  • More elastic than woven materials or leather.
  • Knitted fabrics follow more closely the contour and the body's  movement than woven materials or leather. They are flexible without crinkling - in length and in cross-direction.
  • Various knitting techniques and patterns can be integrated in the most diverse materials. Thus, interesting pattern effects and special fabric properties can be achieved.
  • Fashioned and multi-dimensional knitting with solid edges eliminate complex and costly finishing processes and minimise waste.
  • Knitted fabric leaves the machine with perfect fit for easy further processing and beautiful draping.
  • Hosiery crinkles less than woven materials and allows ample exchange of air and humidity - it is breathable.

Once again, knit has become an enduring trend

Knit has come back – with a vengeance! Knitted goods can again be found in every part of our lives: as bags, shoes, mug covers, jumpers, caps of any shape and colour, and guerrilla knitters cover even trees and benches in public spaces.
At the same time, focus moves towards regional manufacturing – and not just for gourmet foods. Consumers increasingly take notice of ecological and qualitative issues.
These trends promote the effect that European knitwear is returning, and not just in the fashion industry.
