Precisely fitting knitted fabrics

The advantages of technical knitted fabrics in furniture

  • Knitted fabric leaves the machine with perfect fit
  • The risk of defects originating in the production process is minimised as individual production steps such as cutting, and customising are eliminated
  • Different knitting techniques and patterns in hugely different materials can be integrated locally
  • Wear resistance and elasticity can be defined during the planning stage
  • Mounting and reinforcement elements can be precisely integrated.

Application example "Fly" by Patrick Norguet

Our innovative technical knit made it possible for the well-known French designer Patrick Norguet to implement the “Fly” study with Offecct. Finally - after four long years of looking for the right supplier - he found what he was looking for with us. He gave us a free hand. The red dot award 2010 was the reward for our one year development and implementation time. The shape of Fly is reminiscent of a Japanese samurai helmet. It presents itself in an organic design language, whereby the fabric stretched over the metal frame creates the majority of this shape. Since the production of the frame requires very little energy, the chair meets the manufacturer's high standards for sustainable production.

The fabric for the chair's backrest is elastic in cross direction to follow the floating lines.

This elasticity in cross direction has been limited in the seat area by applying a specific knitting method.

The integration of a dual layer ensures even more seating comfort, with the first layer letting the person gently sink in and the second one providing the necessary support.
